Director General Huang Attends Think Tank Dialogue in the U.S.

For the sake of promoting the Chinese and the U.S. governments to enhance communication, Director General Huang Yong of ICC joined a Chinese delegation to the U.S. and attended a series of think tank dialogues to discuss issues including trade frictions and explore proper approaches to addressing trade conflicts between two countries.

The think tank dialogue was the first of its kind to focus on trade issues since the U.S. pushed ahead with unilateralism from early 2018 and the trade frictions between China and the U.S. have continued to escalate. The dialogue revolved around such topics as “China-US Trade Relations”, “China-US Trade Frictions and the Future of the World” and “The Realities and Future of the China-US Relations”.

At the first meeting under the theme of “Trade and China-US Economic Cooperation” held at Asia Society, both sides held in-depth discussions and Huang exchanged views on the future directions of economic and trade cooperation between China and the U.S. with U.S. experts including Chairman Stephen Orlins of the National Committee on US-China Relations and others.

The second roundtable meeting was convened in CSIS. At the meeting, Huang listened to the considerations of the U.S. side and said that mutual trust was very important for the bilateral relations and the think tank dialogue was an effective way to understand the status quo of the relation and its future directions. The meeting was of a great help in addressing the trust deficit between both countries and advancing them to work together in the same direction.

During his stay in the U.S., Huang Yong also attended seminars organized by Bloomberg, the Heritage Foundation, the US Chamber of Commerce and etc. and exchanged views with a host of political as well as business leaders of the U.S.
