Czech Premier met Chinese delegation in Czech


On July 17 2017, the Czech Premier Mr. Sobotka had a cordial meeting with the Chinese delegation,led by the Director General of ICC Cao Wenlian to attend the first Belt and Road China-Czech Cooperation Center working conference.


Delegates of the Western Development Division and ICC of the NDRC had a deep discussion with the delegates of the Investment and Business Development Agency and the Presidential Office in Czech about the principles, missions and projects of the Center ahead of the conference. They further discussed the development, concerns, potentials and future arrangements of the China-Czech cooperation priority projects. The conference reached agreements on working mechanism and annual work plans, and signed the Memorandum of Cooperation.


Director General Cao and Mr. Havlicek, the Director of the Investment and Business Development Agency, jointly hosted the first Belt and Road China-Czech Cooperation Center working conference. Over 100 guests, including the Director of the Presidential Office, Representative of the President, Advisor of the President in Czech as well as local government, financial agencies and enterprises from both China and Czech, took part in the conference.


Director General Cao pointed out in the speech that, the China-Czech cooperation ha sbeen boosted since the Chinese President Xi’s visit to Czech in March 2016. Four suggestions have been put forward as follows. First, we should establish the information sharing mechanism between the governments, industrial associations, financial agencies, think tanks and enterprises. The second is to make a priority project list and important cooperation programs. The third is to establish institutionalized exchange cooperation platform. The fourth is to release China-Czech cooperation progress report under the Belt and Road initiative. We, as the enforcement body of the Cooperation Center, are ready to work together with the Investment and Business Development Agency and the Czech Association for Friendship with China to step up the cooperation.


Mr. Havlicek said Czech is an important partner for China in the Belt and Road Initiative. China-Czech Cooperation Center is the first bilateral cooperation center since the Belt and Road Initiative. He hoped that the entrepreneurship of both China and Czech could take advantage of the cooperation center and promote the beneficial win-win bilateral cooperation projects. The cooperation center would give priority to certain programs and pay attention to potential projects.


 The Czech Premier Mr. Sobotka met the ICC delegation led by Director General Cao.  Director Cao gave an introduction of the working mechanism, priority and achievements of the Cooperation Center. The Czech Premier Mr. Sobotka fully recognized the achievements and highly appreciated the importance of the NDRC in facilitating the China-Czech cooperation.
