Workshop on Sino-US Joint Development of Energy in North America Was Held in Beijing

On March 17, 2015, the workshop on Sino-US Joint Development of Energy in North America organized by Globalization Research Institute of ICC-NDRC was held in Beijing. The workshop aimed at analyzing the current situation of worldwide energy investment, introducing energy investment environment and policies in the US, discussing cooperative models and investment opportunities in the new circumstances and promoting in-depth cooperation and development between China and the US in the energy field. 


Cao Wenlian, Director General of ICC-NDRC (top left), hosted the workshop. Wei Jianguo, Deputy Chairman of the China Centre for International Economic Exchanges (top right), James Zimmerman, Chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce in China (AmCham China) (bottom right), John Walker, CEO of EnerVest in the US (middle right), and Xie Yangjun, General Manager of CCIEE-Xinyuan Capital Management Limited (bottom left) gave keynote speeches respectively on trends and the characteristics of Chinese energy enterprises “going global,” energy investment environment and market regulations in North America, energy cooperative models and project promotion in North America and Sino-US joint development of new-type oil and gas investment platform.


The roundtable was on the theme of “FDI opportunities and cooperation models under new circumstances.” The discussants included Chen Xiang, Deputy General Manager of International Cooperation Department of China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), Zhao Jungui, Vice Chairman of China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation (CPCIF), Zhang Yue, Chairman of China Chamber of Commerce for Petroleum Industry (CCCPI) ,Robert Lewis, Senior Consultant of Zhong Lun Law Firm, John Walker, CEO of EnerVest in the US, and Jeff Eayman, Deputy Director of Sino-US Energy Cooperation Project. The discussants exchanged views with the entrepreneurs present on issues such as current investment opportunities, cooperation models, possible risks and challenges in the process of investment, and coping strategies.
